always having adventures

yesterday we had some free time after dim sum and before the gallery opened so the boy decided we could try and swing by a graffiti hot spot in the area. good thing this graffiti spot is in one of the most dangerous areas in boston. i am pretty much never scared of ‘sketchy neighborhoods’ and have a generic invincibility complex. plus it was 1030 on a sunday morning the day after halloween, so what mischief could be going on at that hour?

anyways, winding our way through dorchester we happened upon about 6 police cars and 2 SWAT trucks, looking like they were about to do a raid somewhere nearby. there was one guy walking down the street yelling at them and lots of pointing and such. so, yeah… so we drove slowly past while i gawked and then skipped out of dorchester and back to the expressway in search of somewhere else for the day’s adventure.

luckily enough, we wandered over to the quincy quarry which was a good time and there were no guns or police in sight. we found some half-baked graffiti, awesome city views, and renegade rock climbers. success.

then last night i was telling my dad about what happened:

dad:and who were you wandering around with? not by yourself i hope.
me: don’t worry, i was with a boy and he can protect me.
dad: ok, good. so did you get any pictures of the SWAT guys jumping out of their trucks? that would be so cool!
me: no… we left before they got out.
dad: well what kind of adventure photographer are you?!?

i’m glad my safety is followed immediately by photo ops as his primary concerns.

and just now i set up a google alert for ‘boston swat’ because i really want to know what happened yesterday after we left!
